In September 2008, Ian Fordham, Director of Big Picture, was appointed to the role of Deputy Chief Executive of the British Council for School Environments.
Recent highlights of our work in strategic policy, leadership and resource development have included:
Innovation Exchange | 2008
Ian Fordham was asked to join a group of 15 social entrepreneurs and innovators to take part in an insight journey, as part of the cutting edge Innovation Exchange programme - to explore and share ‘next practice’ in work with excluded young people in the voluntary sector.
National College for School Leadership | 2007
Big Picture was commissioned to complete a major review of the career development implications of the Every Child Matters and Extended Schools agenda, resulting in a range of tools, frameworks and materials to be launched in 2008 and 2009.

Every Special School Matters | 2007
In early 2007, Phil Dickinson and Ian Fordham were asked to help support 26 special schools in Hampshire recognise and maximise their contribution to the Extended Services agenda. The research and hands on work with headteachers, staff, students and parents over a 9 month period resulted in the ground breaking Every Special School Matters report. It highlights how the Extended Schools and ECM can be put into practice for the benefit of children with special educational needs and their families.
